#49: “Big Toe” Is Not So Big
To me, it’s intuitive that big toes don’t have to be big. Don’t get me wrong; I do expect big toes to be big. They’re definitely named for a reason, and the expectations inferred from that name shouldn’t be too easily dismissed. After all, pinkies are usually pink, right?
However, we do have to remember that the person who created the name “Big Toe”, was a regular human describing the visual phenomenon he perceived, and not some sort of scientist classifying the organ. So, in that sense, big toes can be named something else, for all I care about.
