Chainsaws Aren’t Toys
We’re getting sick and tired of hearing about all sorts of niche phobias. The fear of clowns is called coulrophobia. The fear of palindromes is aibohphobia (which is hilariously ironic). So, what about the fear of chainsaws? Have the Vocabulary Elders at Webster’s or Oxford Dictionary come up with a word for the irrational fear of the power tool?
It turns out that they don’t have to. The fear of chainsaws is called common sense. After all, nobody would run up to a chainsaw in the wild and start petting it, would they? Common sense would tell you to hightail it out of there and hope that the chainsaw doesn’t catch you.
