#23: Massive Spider Crabs? Another Big Nope
It’s not fake, I promise. The Japanese Spider Crab is 100% real, 100% in the ocean, and 100% terrifying. With over 60,000 different species of crustaceans in our waterways, these guys are the largest arthropod species. They’re also considered a delicacy in Japan. However, they’ve been overfished for too long, and conservations efforts are underway.
With such an apt name, I think it’s fair to say this would be not only megalophobia but arachnophobia as well! At twelve feet long, we can only be thankful that the actual giant spider in the world is just eleven inches. I’m not sure anyone could handle a real twelve-foot spider!
