#25: Simply Fabulous
The wonderful, quirky character Edna Mode from Disney’s The Incredibles seems like a completely original, one-of-a-kind person. Well, she was actually created as an homage to an equally original, creative costume designer named Edith Head. Edith is one of Hollywood’s most famous costume designers, perhaps most famous for contributing to Audrey Hepburn’s signature style in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Edith Head was nominated for over 30 Academy Awards and won eight during her career, which is still the most Oscars won by a woman. Her skill and talent in costume design are unmatched, and it’s no wonder Disney decided to use her as a muse for Edna Mode. Edna certainly had large shoes to fill, but we think she did a great job.
