When the servers go down
When you purchase a smart appliance or device, it relies on a stable connection to a central server to operate. If the server goes down, your vacuum cleaner, blender, doorbell, what have you, will be out of commission for the time being. There’s nothing you can do but wait it out and hope that the servers weren’t Juicero’d.

Imagine entrusting your home to a cloud system. If the system fails in any way, best-case scenario, you’re locked in or out of your home. Worst-case, the locks don’t work and your home becomes a target for mass burglarizing. One solution is to use multiple regions, so you can always access the device when one server is down. Another solution is to stick to using traditional vacuums and door locks.
