Rubber and Water
Floods can cause a significant amount of damage to a community. In turn, it requires a large clean-up effort after the destruction in order for residents to get back to their daily lives. Among all the debris and hazardous materials that can be floating through the waters, you also have to be aware of the electrical wiring that might also still be present.
Even though throughout most of the area you probably won’t be seeing any lights or power on in buildings, there is still the electrical cords and wiring that connect these items to a power source. If that source is still on, you can be electrocuted. Luckily rubber is an insulator, which means electrical currents cannot run through it. Gear up with rubber boots, gloves, and goggles to protect yourself when wading through the waters.
