#35: Women Pictured at the Waldorf Hotel, NYC, 1945
This photo was taken at the Waldorf Hotel in New York on September 4, 1945. WWII had officially ended only a few days before this photo was taken, and the feeling of celebration can definitely be felt when you look at the smiles on their faces. But what were these young women doing at the Waldorf Hotel?
All women pictured were volunteers for the Red Cross and other organizations. They were rewarded for their selfless efforts with a trip to New York and a visit to the exclusive hotel. We love the humor of this photo, with the little girl pretending to hold everyone up. We’re also extremely impressed at the skill required to climb a ladder like that in heels!
