We all love to forget our worries every once in a while. That’s probably why movies are so appealing. We can be transported to different worlds and realities with a bit of movie magic and some good acting. But we don’t often think about what happens behind the scenes of our favorite movies. We’ve discovered the most interesting and shocking fun facts about famous movies that most of us don’t know off the top of our heads. So, buckle up all you movie buffs, popcorn lovers, and theatergoers! Chances are there are some fun (and some NSFW) facts included in this list about your favorite movie!
#1: Lord of the Improv
As movie watchers, we usually think every scene is rehearsed and composed to perfection. That’s not always true because sometimes spontaneous moments make movie magic. In an early scene of The Fellowship of the Rings, Gandalf violently bangs his head on a ceiling beam in Bilbo Baggin’s home. Gandalf bumping his head makes perfect sense since he is a comically tall man in a small hobbit’s house.
However, the bump was a total accident! Ian McKellen is seen clumsily bumping into the chandelier. This part was rehearsed, but when he turned around to walk away, he ran full speed into a beam. Rewatching the scene knowing that it was an improvised moment, you can totally see Ian’s surprise and pain! He stayed in character and played it off, which led filmmakers to keep it in the final cut.
