#44: Coen or Cohen?
Garfield: The Movie came out in 2004 and was panned by critics and viewers alike. Surprisingly, the fat orange cat was voiced by Bill Murray during a high in his career. So, why did Bill agree to star in such a mediocre film? Well, he thought the Garfield movie was of a completely different caliber than it actually was, all thanks to the director’s last name.
Garfield: The Movie was written by Joel Cohen of Toy Story fame. However, Bill didn’t pay attention to how his last name was spelled and mistook him for Joel Coen of The Coen Brothers, who are basically movie-making royalty. If you’ve seen any films by the Coen Brothers, such as No Country for Old Men or Fargo, you know that an animated kid’s film about a sarcastic cat isn’t really their style. It fooled Bill, though!
