Women’s Bathing Suits
At the beginning of the 20th century, women’s bathing suits resembled full-on dresses. This was due to a tradition of modesty- and it certainly did not make swimming very easy or comfortable. By 1920, bathing suits for women began to show a little skin but if the bathing suit was too revealing- the woman could be arrested.
Thankfully things have progressed and today women done a variety of different swimming wear. From bikinis to one-pieces to tankinis, there’s something out there for everyone. And perhaps most importantly, today’s swimsuits allow for women to move freely and safely in the water.
