Fridge
The refrigerator was definitely a game changer for humans. Suddenly, people could store meat, eggs, and other dairy products in the comfort of their own home and keep them safe. Keeping certain food products cold extends their shelf life, which eventually reduces the cost of buying more food.

A fridge in the 1900s was likely smaller than today’s refrigerator. It would have featured shelving and drawers, and a small icebox. Fridges today may have ice and water dispensers built in and the temperature can be easily adjusted. We are now starting to see the emergence of “smart fridges” as well, so we expect this home staple to continue to evolve.
