Pick up first, then say “hello!”
According to this person, boomers love saying “Hello” half a second before actually picking up the phone. If you’ve called a boomer before, you’ve probably caught the tail-end of the “hello.” This is why. Back in the day, our parents would tell us to let the phone ring three times before answering, so we have no idea where this tradition came from.
What exactly is the point of talking before you pick up the phone? Seriously, we have no idea why people would do this. Perhaps it’s time to let making phone calls a thing of the past and stick to text messaging from now on.
