La Chartreuse de Parme Has Other Goals In Mind
Stendhal is a 19th-century French writer. However, Stendhal is only his pen name, because his real name is actually Marie-Henri Beyle. He is considered to be one of the early and foremost practitioners of realism. He is also highly praised for the acute analysis of his characters’ psychology. His famous works include Le Rouge et le Noir and La Chartreuse de Parme.
The latter was actually one of his greatest works. The cover was also a famous artwork that also made its way to Varkey’s collection of modernized classical pieces. It shows two women on a balcony, where one of them is being wooed by the gentleman. The added conversation was definitely a prime example of comedy gold.
