Josephus Laurentius Dyckmans, whose real name is Jozef Laurent Dyckmans, is a famous Belgian painter who focuses mainly on genre scenes and portraits. His portraits were very detailed pictures, which led to him being referred to as ‘The Belgian Gerard Dou’. He also has a preference for intimate indoor settings, which can be observed in some of his works like Paternal Advice and The Bride.
