Share the Load
This is somewhat related to the previous post. However, the OP focuses more on how the mom and dad should share the roles of good and bad cops instead of playing them separately. You don’t want your child having an unhealthy image about you being the unfriendly, no-fun household figure, do you?

The OP claims that it can lead to teenage children not wanting to open up to the more authoritative figure about their personal lives, which can be a recipe for disaster since they’re at their most vulnerable age of falling victim to negative influences. Just switch roles from time to time, if at all possible.
