#10: Devil’s Door?
I wasn’t far off with my question. This is the door to the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala, India. Spookily enough, this doorway is completely sealed and has no opening mechanism. It’s said that only specific sound waves can open it; otherwise, doom will befall us all. That’s about as terrifying as a doorway can get.
The temple itself isn’t very imposing, and visitors show up every year to pay homage to the Hindu deity Vishnu. The serpents on the door represent the eternal sleep of AdiShesha, the king of all snakes. The many-mouthed serpent king supposedly sings unending songs in worship to Vishnu with the entirety of Earth hidden within his hood.
