#33: Discouraging Debt
So, I have to pick this next person up on a few things. First, an 18-year-old is just about to start college, so they have not yet racked up any student debt. Second, student debt is not a foregone conclusion; you can avoid racking up a ton of it if you are careful about which school you choose and about applying for scholarships.
However, it is unfortunately true that many people graduate from college with a huge amount of student debt. All I can say is that if you decided to go to an expensive school, I hope you were very strategic about the major you chose so that you can get a high-paying job and pay that debt off. Because otherwise, that debt is going to haunt you for the rest of your life.
