#39: Katie Ledecky: Golden Swimmer
As of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Katie Ledecky holds six individual Olympic Gold medals. That’s the most individual Gold medals won by a female U.S. Olympian. She’s second only to Michael Phelps’ almost unreachable record of 13 Gold medals. At the rate Ledecky’s career is going, she’s probably going to eclipse a few more records in the near future.
She has remained undefeated in the 800-meter freestyle race – an 11-year winning streak that’s holding strong at this year’s Olympics. Ledecky made a splash in 2012 when she won her first Gold medal at only 15 years old, and her masterful skill and speed in the water has only gotten better as her career has progressed. She has become a hero to female swimmers across the U.S. and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
