The Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
Most conspiracy theories revolve around the deaths of high-profile people, and we’ll look at a handful of them in this list, starting with Martin Luther King Jr.’s murder. On April 4, 1968, King was shot dead as he stepped out onto his balcony at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.
At 39, the civil rights activist died at a Memphis hospital. His killer, James Earl Ray, pleaded guilty a year later, but many people believe he did not act alone. The Ku Klux Klan and even the FBI have been named suspects in Martin Luther King Jr.’s killing. The US Justice Department has probed the death three times and once decided that there could have been a larger conspiracy, but there is no substantial proof to back it up.
