Phantom Social Workers
In the early 1990s, widespread belief in phantom (or fake) social workers in the UK and US bordered on horrifying and ridiculous. These fictitious employees were allegedly social workers trying to kidnap kids from their parents.
Because there had been several complaints to the cops about these “phantom social workers,” officials investigated them. There was no evidence that this was true, which is both expected and nonetheless, a source of relief for authorities.
