#37: Squeezed Into the Block
This is a building that you might recognize from our familiar 2024 New York City skyline, but I bet you’ve never seen it under construction, and as you can see, at the time it was built it was practically the Empire State Building in height relative to all the surrounding rooftops.
Let’s not be fooled, though. What makes the Flatiron building worthy of its name is not its height, but its unique shape and design. We appreciate it today even as it is surrounded by equally tall buildings. Even so, it’s cool to see it towering above the people and vehicles below.
