#8: A Family Portrait
Believe it or not, but smiling in photos was certainly not commonplace at a certain time in history. Check out this photo of a Georgian family taken around the year 1900 if you don’t believe us. As you can see, this family is dressed up and very deliberately posed for their portrait with no smile.
The fine people of the internet are undecided as to whether this is a wealthy family in their everyday wear or a poor sharecropper family dressed up in their “Sunday best.” Well, one thing is for sure: I wish my family photos looked this elegant. We’re lucky if we can get everyone looking in the same direction.
