#33: Women at the New York World’s Fair, 1939
People love going to fairs or festivals to have fun and relax. This photo of a group of friends at the New York World’s Fair of 1939 shows that people have always loved to go out to festivals to have a good time. The first World’s Fair took place in 1851 in London, and these events were wildly popular for decades.

This photo may have been risque at the time, what with all that leg showing. But to our modern eyes, this definitely just looks like a group of gals having a blast together. You can also glimpse some of the large-scale exhibitions in the background, which is super cool. Although the World’s Fair is a bit different now, it still takes place!
