Be careful what you recycle
If you’re going to “accidentally” toss out an old credit card or another form of ID, you better shove it into the garbage bin and not recycling. Laborers manually rifle through tons and tons of recycled materials, discarding what doesn’t belong and whatnot. However, there’s no guaranteeing that the workers aren’t shady people, and if one such character comes across your ID, they’ll probably find a way to use it against you.
Identity theft is no joke, and it can be a pain in the butt to deal with. This is especially true if you toss out a credit card, which someone can use to make purchases online while you foot the bill. If you don’t want your credit card any more, cut it with a pair of scissors, and contact your bank right away. Better yet, burn it.
