We’re Not a Bakery
Anyone who thinks that Starbucks bakes their pastries fresh in-house is fooling themselves. News flash; they don’t. Like other coffee chains, Starbucks sources its pastries from an out-of-house bakery that brings their sweet leaves at certain times of the day. So, if an employee tells you they’re all out of a certain pastry, don’t ask them to check in the back.
Well, maybe you should. If someone goes to the back “to check,” they’re really just relaxing in the back room. So, to give the employees a few minutes to themselves, ask them to check the back for something you know isn’t there. They might secretly thank you for giving them a much-needed break.
