Trying to Escape Your Own Wedding?
It’s pretty common to get cold feet before your wedding day, but most people chalk it up to nerves and get on with the big event. South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock seemed to have way more than cold feet when it came to her wedding to Prince Albert of Monaco. There is a 20 year age gap between the two, and Albert was already paying attention to other women before they were even married.
At some point before their marriage was finalized, Wittstock had had enough. She allegedly tried to escape Albert three times. Yes, we mean literally escape. She hid from him at the South African embassy in Paris, tried to flee Monaco during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, and finally tried escaping to Nice, France. Her passport ended up getting confiscated. The two ended up getting married in 2011 and are still together, but should we be concerned?
