Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha
In arranged royal marriages, it was pretty common for the woman to be way younger than the man. These young women would also have to move to a completely different country where they might not know anyone in court and didn’t speak the language. This was the case for Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha, who was 17 when she married Prince Frederick of England.

The German princess didn’t know any English, and she was so nervous on her wedding day that she threw up on her dress. Allegedly, when her future mother-in-law knelt down to help clean up the mess, Augusta couldn’t hold it in and threw up again… on her mother-in-law. We can’t imagine that’s a great first impression.
