#29: Do Not Clean Footwear in Toilets
This sign is an example of banning something that would never cross the average person’s mind. The rule starts off normal enough. It asks bathroom guests to avoid using too much toilet paper. This is a reasonable rule because old pipes can get clogged in high-traffic areas. The second part of this rule is what really throws us off.

The sign also requests that bathroom patrons avoid cleaning their footwear in the toilets. Um, okay. Who in the world is using the toilet to clean their shoes? We can only imagine how dramatic the incident was that sparked such a weird sign. We can’t think of anyone who would want to walk out of a public restroom with wet shoes, but there’s apparently at least one weirdo out there who’s into that.
