Ethan Hawke
American actor and author Ethan Hawke embarked on his Hollywood career at the young age of 14, in the early eighties. His breakthrough role came with the teenage drama Dead Poets Society in 1989. The film’s success, as well as the positive reviews on his acting, encouraged Hawke to pursue an acting career, despite his doubts.
Throughout the nineties, he starred in blockbusters such as Reality Bites (1994), Before Sunrise (1995), and Gattaca (1997). He met his first wife, fellow actress Uma Thurman, on the set of Gattaca. The two got married in 1998 and later that year, they welcomed to the world their first child, daughter Maya Hawke – who followed her parents’ career path. In 2005, Hawke and Thurman ended their marriage.
