Miami Heat Retires #23
On April 11, 2003, Michael Jordan played his final game in the FTX Arena against the Miami Heat. However, before the game commenced, the Heat organization had a surprise for the aging GOAT. As everyone looked up at the rafters, they saw a half-red-half-blue #23 jersey. The organization retired the #23 jersey out of respect for the greatest to play the sport.

Imagine being such an influential figure in the sport that your opponent and a team that you never played for honored you by retiring your jersey number. And it was the first jersey number the team retired in its young history. This recently happened in 2020, when the Dallas Mavericks retired #8 and #24 in honor of Kobe Bryant.
