You Eat Healthy, I’ll Eat Whatever I Want
The do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do approach to raising children isn’t very effective. You don’t teach a kid about the harms of smoking while also lighting up in front of them. There’s no way you can drill your point about the harms of alcohol while slurring your speech. That said, we totally get where it’s coming from. Nobody’s perfect, after all.
But as parents, we have a right to be hypocritical. We want what’s best for our kids, even though we don’t do what’s best for us. Eat a balanced breakfast, kids, and don’t mind the fact that mommy and daddy eat Toaster Strudels every morning. When your kids become parents, they’ll understand.
