#12: Bresler’s Ice Cream
Founded in 1927, Bresler’s had no shortage of flavors for its customers to choose from. In fact, at 33 varieties, Bresler’s even had two more options than the 31 flavors Baskin-Robbins has become renowned for. So, with so many choices, more than 300 locations, and a history that began during the Roaring 20s, what happened to Bresler’s Ice Cream?
Oberweis Dairy purchased Bresler’s in 1987 and began tinkering with its business plan, adding frozen yogurt to the menu. Bresler’s changed hands a few more times over the following two decades, losing more stores to closures each time. The last five locations were rebranded from the Bresler name in 2007.
