#26: The Oak Room
The Oak Room could be found from 1907 to 2011 in New York City’s famous Plaza Hotel. Designed in a German Renaissance architectural style, the Oak Room was grand, opulent, and elegant, featuring wine casks, Bavarian castle frescoes, and a twenty-foot-high ceiling.

The Oak Room remained in operation until 2011 when a nasty dispute ensued between the restaurant’s owners and the Plaza Hotel’s managers. The Plaza Hotel alleged that the Oak Room didn’t pay rent and had too-loud parties. Eventually, the Oak Room was kicked out and shut down.
