#27: Little Joe’s
Little Joe’s was a Chinatown institution, even though it was an Italian restaurant. This L.A. eatery was part of the Italian American enclave of L.A., a district that Chinatown would later replace. Founded in 1928, Little Joe’s was started by the Nuccio family.

The Nuccios controlled the business until 1998 when it closed during its third generation of operation. The current owners closed Little Joe’s because they realized that Chinatown was no longer the nighttime dining destination it once was, and they decided it was time to retire.
