#24: Wich Stand
Designed by famed architect Eldon Davis, Wich Stand was a 1950s-style coffee shop and diner in L.A. It was known for its blue roof with a 35-foot-high spire. At its peak, the Wich Stand had two locations in L.A.

Wich Stand was a classic example of Googie architecture, and it was immortalized by the Beach Boys’ unreleased single, “Wich Stand.” Wich Stand fell on hard times in the 1980s, and it eventually, after facing unpaid debts and vandalism, closed for good in 1988.
