#29: Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon
When Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon was founded in 1989, it was a standalone prototype with no real direction. Former Pizza Hut franchisee Jamie B. Coulter changed everything when he took over as President, CEO, and Chairman in 1992. The Texas Roadhouse-style restaurant opened more than 250 locations over the next 25 years.

After a series of upper-management disputes, resignations, and store closures, Lone Star filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2017. A little more than two years following the company’s bankruptcy announcement, Lone Star’s last continental United States-based location (Knightdale, North Carolina) shut its grills down for the last time. That left one US location, the one in Guam.
