Willie Mays – 1952 Topps
Our next baseball icon is a former San Francisco Giants outfielder who, like Willie Mays, began his career with the New York Giants and then moved with them across the country to San Francisco. His final two seasons were with the New York Mets.
Mays was a three-time All-Star, two-time MVP, 1956 Batting Title winner, and ML Player of the Year; he was a 12-time Golden Glove winner, 24 All-star appearances, part of the 1954 World Series champions team, and elected to the Hall of Fame in 1979. His 1952 card went for $478,000 in 2016.
