Basically, if an employer ever says that a topic like pay should stay between the two of you, don’t trust them. This type of language should make you immediately suspicious. In fact, maybe you should do the opposite. Break through the social taboo and tell everyone what your pay is! Treat it like a social experiment and see what happens.
