Work Hard, Play Hard
If a company tells you they work hard and play hard, run the other way. That’s code for “we want you to work hard all the time.” Some people thrive in super intense work cultures, but it’s not for everyone. Companies that expect you to work nonstop, stay for overtime every day, and work seven days a week will take up all your time.
Sure, your paycheck might be nice, but you won’t have time to enjoy any of that money! One person described workplaces like this as “sweatshops,” and they’re not wrong. Work hard, play hard can work as a personal motto, but it shouldn’t be the slogan of a company’s work culture. Employees need time off!
