Psycho
Just like Jaws, many of the cinematic techniques that were used in Psycho have been labeled clichés since the 1960s, but Hitchcock was praised for its cinematic excellence back in the day. In a more classic, horror movie style, Director Alfred Hitchcock utilizes every trick used in cinema, whilst also creating a few new things to add to cinema history as well as freak people the heck out.
Like many Easter eggs used in movies, some are obvious whilst others leave more to the imagination. But at the end of the film, it appears that Norman Bates’ mother has taken control of his whole being as her voice is heard over the loudspeaker at the police station. Just to make sure that the audience got the metaphor, his mother’s skeletal image can be seen superimposed on top of his own face. Talk about a mama’s boy, huh.
