Koto Okubo
Koto Okubo died on the 12th January 2013 at the age of 115 years, 19 days. She was the oldest woman validated around the world at the time of her passing, and the second oldest person in the world after another man who was 8 months 5 days older than her, also from Japan. She became the 29th person in history to reach the age of 115, and the third Japanese woman succeeding Tane Ikai and Chiyono Hasegawa.
Koto Okubo spent the remainder of her time in a nursing home in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan, while her son kept her company. Furthermore, she died in Kanagawa and the cause of her death was pneumonia, she was survived by her son. She was the last surviving woman in the world born in 1879.
