Chiyo Miyako
Chiyo Miyako was a Japanese supercentenarian and the 9th oldest validated person in history. She was the oldest living person at the time of her death in July 2018 at the age of 117 years, 81 days. She was born in the town of Yuasa, as the fourth of five children of which she and her younger brother were the only ones to live.

As a child, she enjoyed all her subjects however she wasn’t a fan of sports. After marrying her husband Shoji Osaka, she often lived a nomadic lifestyle as Shoji worked for Japanese National Railways. She adored calligraphy which she had learned from early childhood. Her favorite foods were eel and sushi. After her passing, she was described by her family as being a friendly and chatty individual.
