Eugenie Blanchard
Blanchard was a French-Saint Barthélemy supercentenarian.
She was born on 16 February 1896 and died 4 November 2010 at 114 years, 261 days old. She was born 18 years after the former Swedish island of St. Barts was sold back to France. She became a Catholic nun in 1923 in the congregation of Franciscan Sisters of Roosendaal in Curaçao and was praised for the way she treated people. She adopted the name Cyria “Sister Cyria”.

However, Eugenie affectionately became known as “Sweets” as a result. She stayed with the congregation until 1955, at the age of 60 she moved back to St. Barts. She lived alone with her cat until she was moved to a nursing home. Blanchard was said to be in relatively good health in her last year’s alive despite losing her eyesight and ability to speak.
