Sweet As Pie
Pie is said to be “the most American dessert,” and that’s definitely true. Our culinary history isn’t as refined or rich as some other countries, but boy- we know how to bake a mean pie. While blueberry and apple pie can commonly be found in some European countries, the U.S. bakes a wider variety of flavors. From key lime to banana cream, rhubarb to pumpkin, we have perfected many flavors of this American dessert.
This person experienced the joy of this all-American dessert when they were studying abroad in the U.S. and found themselves alone during the Thanksgiving holiday. Their resident assistant generously brought over a bunch of handmade pies, and their world was changed forever. Nothing can raise your spirits like a warm slice of apple pie.
