Work Hard
Middle-class Americans are privileged to have a pretty high quality of life in many ways, but there are some deficits. Paid time off is one of those areas in which the U.S. lags behind other countries. Americans who are employed full-time get very few vacation days, and some people don’t get them at all.
This person was shocked when they learned that their American friend only got 20 days off per year. While this seems like a lot of time to fellow Americans, Europeans find this frankly laughable. In most European countries, a few weeks of paid time off is the norm. This person wouldn’t even be interested in a job that offered only 20 days off.
