Resurrectionists
Not to be confused with the exorcist who deals with demons and spiritual entities, the resurrectionist deals with the dead. Also known as body snatchers, the resurrectionists were hired to dig up graves and exhume the bodies. They were hired by medical students who wanted to practice performing surgery on human bodies.
Sounds creepy? That’s because it is creepy. The resurrectionists were popular in the UK during the 18th and 19th centuries, when there was a high demand by hospitals and medical schools for bodies to dissect. Yes, it just gets creepier and creepier. Clearly, this job is highly unethical (not to mention illegal), which is part of the reason why it eventually became nothing but a historical tale.
